Kathmandu-The defending champions Janakpur Bolts have won the first match of today’s second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) ongoing at Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground, Kirtipur in the capital. Janakpur defeated Chitwan Rhinos by six wickets. This is their first win in this tournament. Janakpur, which had lost four matches in a row, added two points today. Chitwan, on the other hand, has won only two out of five matches. Janakpur Bolts achieved the victory target of 177 runs in 17.3 overs for the loss of four wickets. In this, Maz Sadaqat and Anil Sah added half-centuries with superb batting. Maaz scored 63 and Anil scored 61 runs. On the bowling side, Kamal Singh Airee, Sahil Tanveer, and Amar Singh Rautela from Chitwan took one wicket each. Earlier, Chitwan won the toss and chose to bat first, scoring 176 runs for the loss of four wickets in the allotted 20 overs. The opening pair Dawid Malan and Arjun Saud scored half-centuries. Malan contributed 80 and Arjun 52 runs. There was also a century partnership of 112 runs between these two batsmen. Anil Shah, Rupesh Singh, Maaz Sadaqat and Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton from Janakpur each took a wicket. Meanwhile, Anil Sah, the batter for Janakpur Bolts, has scored a half-century in today’s match. He is the 21st player to hit a half-century in the ongoing tournament.He completed a half-century against Chitwan Rhinos with three sixes and two fours in 28 balls. So far, 25 half-centuries have been scored in the second edition of the NPL....

Kathmandu-In today's meeting of the Legislation Management Committee under the National Assembly, an understanding was reached to advance the Cinema Bill tabled by the government.  It was agreed following the discussion among the government, parliamentarians and stakeholders held at Singha Durbar on Tuesday to take ahead the bill with amendments, including addition of some provisions related to the cinema sector.  In the meeting, Minister for Communication and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel said the cinema bill would be taken ahead with amendments. He made it clear that the government was not intending to withdraw the bill despite provisions for amendments within the bill.  "The government is not interested to withdraw the bill. The government is clear on taking ahead the bill related process. We should move ahead with massive reforms based on the recommendations of the government, committee and cine sector stakeholders", Minister Kharel added. He indicated amendments could be made in course of the clause-wise discussion on the bill.  Other stakeholders, including film workers and producers' association were appeared in favour of bill amendment after listening to the government's opinion.  Also speaking on the occasion, Chairperson of Film Development Board, Dinesh DC, Chairperson of Film Artists' Association Mohgan Niraula, General Secretary of Producers' Association Khagendra Lamichhane, and Chairperson of Film Journalists' Association Samir Balami highlighted the need of amendments to the cinema bill in a way to reflect the dimensions of the sector.  In the meeting, Committee President Tulasa Kumari Dahal expressed the committee's readiness to move ahead for clause-wise discussion on the bill with stakeholders, experts and lawmakers in different phases.  The Upper House Committee has elicited inputs and deliberations in writing from the stakeholders for amendments.  (RSS)...
