PM Oli’s visit to China to fulfill maximum national interest: UML

Kathmandu : CPN (UML) has decided to make Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s upcoming visit to China fruitful and ensure fulfilling maximum national interest.

UML Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali informed that the secretariat meeting held today at the party central office in Chyasal Lalitpur decided to make the Prime Minister’s visit to China a success in the national interest of Nepal”. He further noted, “Our emphasis will be on implementing the high-level agreement signed during Chinese President’s visit to Nepal and Nepal’s Prime Minister’s visit to China”.

Gyawali said, “Additionally, we will also discuss other matters of bilateral interests. We will make this visit successful ensuring maximum national interest of Nepal”. According to Deputy General Secretary Gyawali, the government has reviewed four months’ performance of the government.

The meeting concluded that the government was working in a smooth manner. He informed that a mechanism has been formed to strengthen the understanding between the Nepali Congress and the UML and to coordinate further works.

Gyawali further shared that the meeting approved the names of the party nominated candidates for the by-elections. According to him, the meeting has instructed the entire party committees to focus on the by-elections to be held on December 1.

“For the by-elections, the names of the candidates decided by the provincial committee have been approved and the entire party organizations have been called upon to mobilize their strengths for the victory of UML in the elections”, said Deputy General Secretary Gyawali.

He made it clear that UML will compete alone in the by-elections and that there will be a healthy competition with the ruling Parties. He said that it is possible to cooperate with political parties based on local needs in elections.

The meeting has also approved the candidacy of Dr. Surendra Manandhar to the post of mayor of Kirtipur municipality, Tulsiram Bishwas, chairman of Gramthan rural municipality of Morang, Uma Lungeli Sherpa vice chair of Gaurishankar rural municipality of Dolakha, Kesh Kumari Tulachan, vice chair of Rukum Purpurputha Uttarganga rural municipality.

The meeting has approved the action taken by the party’s province committee against then minister of internal affairs of Koshi province, Lilaballabh Adhikari. The provincial committee has decided to release the provincial committee member from all responsibilities including party membership.

“The party has expressed its belief that all the state agencies will conduct an objective, factual and serious investigation into all the allegations against him and that the party will fully cooperate in that investigation”, said Deputy Secretary General Gyawali.

He said that it has been decided to call on the people’s committee and liaison forum to help make the awareness gathering organized by the Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur district committees of the party on November 22 a success.

The party has expressed grief over the death of its central adviser Devi Pokhrel.
