Nawalpur: The fire incidents are increasingly taking place here. As many as 38 forest fire incidents occurred in the district so far in the current fiscal year.
A fire broke out at Binayi Triveni rural municipality-2 at around 2.30 pm on Friday. Two buffaloes and three goats were killed in the fire that broke out in the two-storey metal-corrugated house of Nabin Pun at Tamangtol.
The police personnel are gathering complete details of the damage caused by the fire.
On the same day at around 3.00 pm, a fire broke out in the straw stock of Rana Bahadur Rai, a resident of Hupsekot-4, Shankhdev village in the district.
There was no further damage with the fire coming under control immediately.
The straw pile caught fire when a child was playing with matches. Similarly, a fire broke out in the straw of Shree Prasad Neupane of Ittabhatta Chowk in Gaindakot-1 at around 3.00 pm on Thursday.
The fire damaged 12 kattha of straw and burnt the cowshed. There was no loss of livestock and human life.
Incidents of fire in personal property are usually taking place in the district in the day time.
Although causes behind the fire incidents in the district are not identified, most of the fire incidents occur due to human error, police said.
Three people have lost their lives to fire in the district this year alone. According to the District Police Office, out of 38 fire incidents in the current fiscal year, three people have died in three incidents.
In the Nepali month of Chaitra alone, 13 incidents were reported, of which five were of fire in personal property and eight were of forest fires.
Information officer at the District Police Office, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Madhu Nepal said three people were killed in the fire incident that broke out in the month of Shrawan, Magh and Falgun in the current fiscal year.
“Three persons were killed and eight others sustained injuries in the fire that occurred in the district during the last nine months”, he said. A total of 1,600 chickens, two buffaloes and three goats were killed.
According to Nepal, five houses were partially damaged; seven cowsheds and nine straw stocks destroyed in the fire incidents. A school and a cowshed were partially damaged.
Information Officer Nepal informed that a car was also damaged in the fire that broke out last year.
Although number of fire incidents has increased in the dry season, there is difficulty in dousing fire in the absence of fire engines.
Of the eight municipalities, only two municipalities — Kawasoti and Devchuli — have their own fire engine.
