NPL: Defending champions Janakpur savour their first win

Kathmandu-The defending champions Janakpur Bolts have won the first match of today’s second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) ongoing at Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground, Kirtipur in the capital. Janakpur defeated Chitwan Rhinos by six wickets. This is their first win in this tournament.

Janakpur, which had lost four matches in a row, added two points today. Chitwan, on the other hand, has won only two out of five matches. Janakpur Bolts achieved the victory target of 177 runs in 17.3 overs for the loss of four wickets.

In this, Maz Sadaqat and Anil Sah added half-centuries with superb batting. Maaz scored 63 and Anil scored 61 runs.

On the bowling side, Kamal Singh Airee, Sahil Tanveer, and Amar Singh Rautela from Chitwan took one wicket each.

Earlier, Chitwan won the toss and chose to bat first, scoring 176 runs for the loss of four wickets in the allotted 20 overs. The opening pair Dawid Malan and Arjun Saud scored half-centuries. Malan contributed 80 and Arjun 52 runs. There was also a century partnership of 112 runs between these two batsmen.

Anil Shah, Rupesh Singh, Maaz Sadaqat and Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton from Janakpur each took a wicket.

Pokhara Avengers and Karnali Yaks will face each other in the second match this afternoon at 4:00 pm.

Anil hits half-century

Meanwhile, Anil Sah, the batter for Janakpur Bolts, has scored a half-century in today’s match. He is the 21st player to hit a half-century in the ongoing tournament.

He completed a half-century against Chitwan Rhinos with three sixes and two fours in 28 balls. So far, 25 half-centuries have been scored in the second edition of the NPL.
