Kathmandu,- India has gifted the second tranche of election-related assistance to Nepal as part of its support for the country’s preparations for upcoming elections. The handover ceremony was held on Thursday at the Ministry of Finance in Kathmandu.

The assistance was formally handed over by Charge d’Affaires a.i. of India to Nepal, Dr. Rakesh Pandey, in the presence of Nepal’s Minister for Finance, Mr. Rameshore Prasad Khanal. Under this tranche, more than 250 vehicles were ceremonially transferred to the Government of Nepal to support election logistics and management.

These vehicles are part of the assistance requested by the Government of Nepal to facilitate smooth and effective preparations for the forthcoming elections. The support is expected to strengthen transportation and operational capacity during the electoral process.

Speaking on the occasion, Finance Minister Rameshore Prasad Khanal highlighted the longstanding cooperation and friendly relations between Nepal and India. He expressed gratitude to the Government and people of India for the timely assistance and underscored its importance in ensuring efficient election preparations.

It may be noted that the first tranche of election-related assistance from the Government of India was handed over to Nepal on 20 January 2026. According to officials, additional consignments are expected to be delivered in batches over the coming weeks.

The continued cooperation from India reflects the multi-faceted and multi-sectoral development partnership between the two neighboring countries. It also symbolizes the deep mutual trust, friendship, and people-to-people ties that have long characterized India–Nepal relations.
