Nepal’s constitution best in the world on women’s issues-NA Vice-Chair Ghimire

Kathmandu: Vice-Chair of the National Assembly, Bimala Ghimire claimed that Nepal’s Constitution is the best across the world in terms of women’s rights.

She however observed that the attitude towards women has not been changed. “The fact that men and women are equal is not only a political and legal issue but also a matter related to values, traditions and religious culture”, she added.

On maintaining good governance in the country, Ghimire asserted that laws related to good governance should be strictly implemented.

“Our media also emphatically exposes big scandals of corruption and irregularities. Employees’ dillydally and not providing services to the people on time is also corruption”, she said.

The vice-chair also argued that there is a big difference between people’s representatives and employees which she claimed has added to the rife of corruption in the country.

On a question regarding measures to check exodus of Nepali youth going abroad, Ghimire advised creating diverse job opportunities within the country to retain youth force.
