Kathmandu: The 74th birth anniversary of late Madan Bhandari, the then General Secretary of the CPN (UML), is being observed by organizing various programmes.
The CPN (UML) and Madan Bhandari Foundation are celebrating the birth anniversary of Bhandari with various events today.
The CPN (UML) Liaison Coordination Committee organised morning rally today on the occasion of the birth anniversary. The rally was organised from Tripureshwor to Tinkune from 7:30 am to 8:30 am, said Committee Secretary RC Lamichhane.
UML General-Secretary Shankar Pokhrel and Standing Committee member Lal Babu Pandit, among others were present in the rally.
Similarly, Madan Bhandari Foundation is organising an interaction on ‘Three Decades of People’s Multiparty Democracy’ at City Hall. Prime Minister and CPN (UML) Chairperson, KP Sharma Oli, and former President Bidya Devi Bhandari, would attend the interaction.
Born to mother Chandra Kala and father Devi Prasad in Dhungeshanghu of Taplejung district on Asar 14, 2009 BS, Madan Bhandari died in a jeep accident at Dasdhunga of Chitwan on Jeth 3, 2050 BS.
Bhandari’s contribution to Nepali political thought and communist movement remains significant and his vision of multi-party democracy continues to guide the CPN (UML) and socialist movement of Nepal.
