
Kathmandu : Former Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha has said the election to the House of Representatives should be forwarded in a way it materializes people’s aspiration for change.
During an interaction organized by the Citizen Group dwelling on contemporary political development and national affairs, the former CJ viewed the dissent deserves proper address and democratic process forwarded accordingly.
“Present electoral system does not help any political party in securing even the general majority. It does not pave way for amendment of constitution as per Gen Z demand,” he commented, underscoring the urgency of national consensus, for which all sides can extend support.
Advocate Dr Astha Dahal said the voting rights guaranteed by the constitution must be ensured even to the Nepalis living abroad. She urged the government to pay heed to it.
Chief Executive Officer at Nabil Bank, Manoj Kumar Gyawali, expressed worry over insufficient discussion on economic revolution in the country while political change is a trite. Proper utilization of resources helps us build a foundation for national economy, he suggested.
Foreign affairs expert Dr Nischal Nath Pande asserted that present chaos was created because of too much politicization in the country. Election on the scheduled date is imperative to hand over power to the elected representatives, he emphasized.
