Kavrepalanchok- A total of 2,209 students are set to graduate in the 31st Convocation Ceremony (First Phase) of Kathmandu University (KU), scheduled to be held on Mangsir 24 (December 10).
The ceremony, organized at the University’s Central Campus in Dhulikhel, will be presided over by the Prime Minister and Chancellor, Sushila Karki. The Minister of Education, Science and Technology and Pro-Chancellor, Mahabir Pun, will also attend the function.

The Vice-Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, Professor Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit, will be the Chief Guest and will deliver the convocation address.
The ceremony, managed by Registrar Professor Dr. Rajeev Shrestha, will feature a welcome address on behalf of the university by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Achyut Wagle.
A breakdown of the 2,209 graduating students by school is as follows:

By level, the graduates include 7 students from PhD, DM, and MCh levels, 397 from the postgraduate level, 50 from the PGD level, and 1,728 from the undergraduate level.
Of the total graduates, 52.24% (1,154 individuals) are male and 47.76% (1,055 individuals) are female.
The ceremony will include 196 international students from 17 countries: Australia, Austria, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Britain, India, Japan, Malaysia, Maldives, Mexico, Namibia, Russia, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, the United States of America, and Vietnam.

For the first time at Kathmandu University, 1 student from the Master of Philosophy by Research in Mathematics (under the School of Sciences) and 29 students from the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture will be graduating. Similarly, 20 students from the Master of Medical Research (under the School of Medical Sciences) will graduate for the first time.
With the conclusion of the 31st convocation’s first phase, the total number of graduates from Kathmandu University has reached 50,040. Out of this number, the tally of international graduates is 5,860, or approximately 12 percent.

During the press conference organized to provide information about the convocation, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Achyut Wagle, Registrar Prof. Dr. Rajeev Shrestha, and Spokesperson Dr. Uddhav Pyakurel, among others, stated that KU has introduced programs designed to retain domestic students in the country and to attract international students.
