The duo took the oath before the Head of the Government at a special ceremony organized here today.
Kathmandu: Prime Minister Sushila Karki administered the oath of office and secrecy to newly appointed Vice-Chairperson of National Planning Commission, Dr Prakash Kumar Shrestha and member Prof Dr Suniti Shrestha (Hada).
The duo took the oath before the Head of the Government at a special ceremony organized here today. The cabinet meeting on December 15 had appointed the two to the vacant position of NPC Vice-chair and member respectively.
Present in today’s oath-taking ceremony were member of the Commission and Chief Secretary of the government of Nepal, Suman Raj Aryal, Secretary at the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Raj Kumar Shrestha and Secretary of the Commission, Rabi Lal Pant among others high-ranking government officers.
On the occasion, PM Karki congratulated the newly appointed Vice-Chairperson and member and extended her best wishes to the duo for their new role. Karki instructed them to thoroughly study the country’s situation and devise action plans in line with the aspirations of the Gen-Z youths.
“We have entrusted you with this responsibility as experts. You are aware of the country’s situation. You should take further steps by taking into account this situation,” the PM urged.
According to her, the plans and programmes of the National Planning Commission should align with the spirit of the movement waged by the Gen-Z youths for change.
It may be noted the interim government led by Karki was formed in the wake of Gen-Z uprising on September 8 and 9 this year, with a mandate to hold elections to the House of Representatives’ on March 5, 2026.
